One of my friends has a lot of cats. I cannot remember all her cats' names. Or even which cats are the new cats and which cats have died since I met her.

Sometimes there are pictures of her cats and I really appreciate it when the cats have names that match up with how they look. The white puffball kind of kitty should not be called "Blackie" because that gives me cognitive dissonance.

I said, but I would probably name a striped cat "Bill Murray". Then I realized anyone younger than me would have absolutely no clue why that's funny. Akin to when I got hit by the automatic hand-sanitizer dispenser at the gym and shouted, "Ah! I've been slimed!" Everyone stared at me and one old guy started laughing. Then everyone looked at him too.

I'm in a bizarre mood because I haven't been sleeping.

Today I discovered that my new phone service has call waiting. At least I figured out what the weird beeps probably were... and I guess it was nice to get my package even though Simon's SIL called.

Today there have been 6 people come to the door. 1 Package delivered, 3 phone calls, and 4 people have IM'd. I've moved 2 dressers and a bed. I just realized I was looking forward to going to the gym today so I could relax.

It probably doesn't help that two of them are very similar-looking, and three are related.

I think it would be neat if you could pose your cats all together like those group portraits for class picture day, then add labels. And you could have a grayed out list of former cats so we know which names will make you sad if we ask after those cats. But I'm doing better tracking your cats by name now... when I met you, you had 4 cats and I thought there were only 2 and you just gave them nicknames that changed periodically. Now you have like a thousand new cats that are often named after other animals. Harry Dresden has a giant dog named "Mouse" and you have a cat named "Cat" and a cat named "Squirrel". It brings to mind Hagrid's quote, "People can get a bit stupid about their pets."

Though I need a cheatsheet for your past, present, and future boyfriends first if you're making dramatis personae lists of your life. You tend to call the boyfriends by their initials and you somehow refuse to choose solely based on which letters have not been used. "seryn will be confused if I go out with you unless you change your name to Xavier." It doesn't seem unreasonable, right? And it's not like you have a ton of past boyfriends that you've remained friends with, but you've got the equivalent of {John, Jon, Johnny, Jonno, Jonathan, Jack, Jay} from the past and seem to be attracted to men named {James, Jim, Jimmy, Jimbob, Jamie, Jaime}... so when you say, "Once when I went out with J...."

It would be VERY convenient if you (and everyone else) would give the character names in the play-that-is-life more forethought.

Sadly, whenever I get them all together, getting them to look at the camera is more than I can manage.

Engineer Cat AKA Smokey is on the far right.

Left side, top to bottom:
Rosie / Woesie is the dark speckled girl.
Tang is the mostly-white with orange ear tips and tail next to her.

Geeg is the black and white spotted cat with large black spots, also known as The Boy or My Son.
Grim AKA Grimaulkin is the black and white spotted cat with medium-sized black spots. They really do look different, but I don't really expect people can tell them apart other than family.

And Diim is the all-black (with a white chin and belly spot) cat at the lower left. He's grown since this pic and is now Grim-sized.

We've lost two cats in recent history; Chisa, who was gray and white in a similar pattern to Geeg (see icon) and Boots, who was a gray striped kitten with white socks.

I'm only currently seeing one remaining D-person, and I think he actually prefers to be called Moxie, and is considering IRL going by his middle name, as he's just found out that he was named after someone he really dislikes the behavior of.
