I'm feeling socially odd.

I replied to people I found on the Network page today. It feels weird to do so because in the beginning the Network page was full of scary people who were so vehement in their exclusion of people like me that I was afraid to look and see who we had in common.

Today there were some interesting things, so I jumped right in.

I feel like that annoying person at a cocktail party who intrudes into everyone's conversation though.

That was totally NOT intruding, it was quite awesome actually. I was floored that somebody took the time to come and respond. So yeah, not bad, not at all.

Oh. Good, I'm glad that wasn't weird. You know what I mean though... you've been to parties where the whole room is full of these micro-cliques because everyone brought their own friends. It looks like people are mingling but they might as well have stayed home because they'll never talk to anyone new.

I sometimes feel I'm a bit socially....challenged, at least I'm an introvert with a healthy dose of shy, with other stuff piled on top, so that kind of thinking never made a lot of sense to me, new people are interesting to me :)

Then feel free to stick around, most of my posts are unlocked, unless it's too identifying in some way. That way you can tell if it's likely to work out and you can take advantage to the read/access permissions so you don't have to open your stuff to a stranger.

I like your icon. I don't know why "irrelephant" is hilarious, but it is.

I'm definitely introverted, but I'm getting better at faking the "looking human" kind of social interaction that extroverts expect in the wild. Then I come back here and say the rest of what I was thinking about.

Because of this post (well, five minutes later because it took me awhile to figure out what "network" you were referring to as I apparently cannot actually see that word at the top of my reading page on my own and must have it brought to my attention over and over by others) I found an awesome essay in the immediate aftermath of the OBL assassination. So, thanks for that!

Please mention this network thing again in 6 months as I'll be certain to have gone blind to it by then and will need to be told. And I'll still need that additional 5 minutes to figure out what you mean.

Although I am glad that me saying something helped you. Mostly I'd put it there so the new people, if they looked, wouldn't think I did that all the time. Because it's sort of creepy.

Labrys mentioned the network thing awhile ago and it took me forever to figure out WTH she was going on about. My poor brain, sometimes so feeble. ;-)
