I was familiar with the idea that English people use "Asian" to mean Indian generally. After the specific incident when it happened, I ranted to Simon that we needed to be more British so other people would be forced to understand my defaults.
Considering it's either a useless term or incorrect, I'm surprised "Asian" isn't pejorative.
