I've still got 3 more reviews to write, but today I did something cool.
I have these really nice Keen shoes. They're good shoes. A couple months ago, a heavy door ran over my foot. Now, to explain why I think these are great shoes, my foot was not damaged. I have had disputes with this door in the past (it's in the lobby of my building) and have had broken toenails and visible bruises and on one occasion even door rashed my foot. But these shoes were +6 against being eaten by a door. Unfortunately the shoes did not escape unscathed. A few stitches popped loose. But they were decorative stitches and I didn't really worry about it.
Fast forward to now and the loose stitches have run, and it's starting to become a structural problem. (It started at the corner of the shoe and migrated to the tongue attachment point.) So I got out some heavy duty cotton/poly thread, added some all poly multi-color thread, and laboriously stitched my shoe back again.
I love the bright blue thread. I wish I had the patience to duplicate stitch the whole shoe.
I'm completely awesome. And I have a really good sense of what kinds of fashion choices would make me happy. I'm seriously considering dyeing these shoes. Though, admittedly, I plan on purchasing a second pair first.
