it's just water, right?
Aug. 8th, 2010 03:43 pmWeirdly I am in need of a yuppie item. I need a container for personal beverages which does not leak.
I need to be able to bring water to the gym and to have in my bag when I am out (I have a small vial with aspirin for emergencies but obviously that's not going to help if I choke on the pills.)
Preferably I would like this container not to poison me. Either through plastic contamination, aluminum, lead/garbage-based "food grade" stainless steel from China (why the fuck do we buy anything from there anymore?), or being unable to actually clean it.
It should fit in the cup holder of my car, not be made in China, be dishwasher-safe (in a non-annoying way, if it takes 15 minutes to dis-assemble the pieces because not all of it is dishwasher-safe, that doesn't count), with a large enough mouth that ice cubes can be added (and so I can put my tiny hands in for hand-cleaning.) It shouldn't retain smells.
It should be easy to drink from. When the cap is fully tightened, the container should not leak. At all. Not even when upside down or shaken.
My current container is a bottled water water bottle which I have rinsed and reused multiple times. (I have bottled water on hand because there might be an earthquake. And most bottled water has an expiration date. So I drink the expiring water once I've replaced it.) It has some good points, like I won't be crushed if I lose it and it was cheap. It has some bad points, like it is really loud when I touch it and can't be effectively cleaned.
I am considering the Lifefactory glass bottles with silicone sleeves. (Amazon link).

Date: 2010-08-09 04:57 pm (UTC)I like the dark blue one best of the current choices, but obviously there should have been purple. Especially before orange. No one likes orange.
My SO likes red. All red things are his. So even though the red color is obviously the most dramatic, I'm not getting a red one. It would stay mine for about 6 hours (The time between when the box arrives and when my SO gets home.)
