How not to say something.
Feb. 9th, 2011 11:21 amI finally gave up. I called the doctor's office. They said they'd call if there was anything wrong (because they'd need to see me, etc.) but otherwise not to worry. Well, I suck at that. When they hadn't called after 8 days I started telling myself, "See, nothing to worry about!" But now, at 2 weeks, I called and the receptionist says, "Um. Let me check with the doctor and see if we should have called you. I will call you back."
I know there are rules about the receptionist reading out results over the phone. And the one I talked to isn't a nurse or anything (she does the billing). But that's a really horrible phrasing that's almost tailor-made to cause anxiety.
