seryn: water drop (drop)
I've been horrible about posting open things. And bad about commenting. Some of that is an over-subscription to groups that increase the noise-to-signal ratio on my reading page; I'm a lot more likely to comment the fourth time I've seen a post. I've even been bad about replying to comments lately.

I'm catching up slowly with replying to comments on my own stuff... but open posts are probably going to still be rare for a while. I went from almost never having locked posts to almost never having unlocked ones almost overnight. Sorry about that to all the people who wonder where I've gotten to.

So far, for interesting stuff I've done lately, I read The Hunger Games which turns out to be by Suzanne Collins who also wrote the Gregor series that was for children but which I really really enjoyed. I haven't read any HG sequels yet, I borrowed the first one via Amazon Prime's free Kindle lending service... I'm not sure we're keeping Prime past the free demo month, but I figured I should try out all the features while we had it. I wasn't whelmed by the selection in the free lending service. Most of the books you can borrow for free were available to buy for $0.00 recently, so it seems kind of stupid to do that. They also only let you borrow one book per month so you do feel as though you should choose wisely. That in itself makes it less appealing.

I bought a book of sweater designs that are all done with fancy cable work... that has been really interesting because it's detailed enough to teach me how to make that work for other design motifs. I have a stack of Celtic knotwork books... now I have enough information to chart them into knitting motifs. That really interests me.

I've been watching Cadfael from the Amazon Prime streaming via an ancient Roku box and I really wish there were subtitles. I understand that newer Rokus have a subtitle option, but I'm just not thrilled with paying Roku for another box when the current one still works just fine and they're just not bothering to support old devices.

I've also been watching Speed Racer The Next Generation via Netflix. It's absolutely ghastly and I still really enjoy it. Totally not recommended.

Still no cooking.
