Seriously. What the fuck people? Couldn't SOMEONE have mentioned this when I've been screaming and flailing?
Google for it in your area, it's based on local resources and coordination, but it seems to be exactly what I need.
Edited to add: If you need any sort of social services, like you've lost your job and can't quite figure out what you're supposed to do next, or you are temporarily disabled and need help at home but can't figure out how to find any, or you need to escape an abusive situation at home but don't know what to do about it. It's pretty much a redirection service so you don't have to know exactly which county or state department does those things. If you have a problem and you're pretty sure there is help, but you're not an "under served population" where social workers are ambiently placed, so you don't know who to call, you should probably look into 211. Maybe it will turn out that there isn't any help filling out unemployment paperwork if you're not ESL, but maybe these tax-funded programs actually exist to help everyone and they're lost as to how to reach you as you are in reaching them.
