Every day is Saturday.
May. 14th, 2012 08:37 pmOne of the things I've noticed now that I have less time during the day is how much less horrible things are to do during "busy" times that I used to avoid, than I remember or expected. I had a great time at the zoo on a Saturday that turned out to be the Earth Day special day--- so it was even more full than usual. Tonight we went out for dinner and I put laundry in. I've done 4 loads so far (admittedly we did eat early.)
There are some things that are just as bad as I remember though. Trying to go out for breakfast on a Sunday morning is a nightmare. Walking in the park is definitely better on non-weekends.
Grocery shopping is not that much better on weekday afternoons than it is on weekday evenings or weekend evenings... during the day on Saturday is insane though---- at Trader Joes you just get in line because the line snakes through the whole store anyway. That's how I found out they sell hand soap... it's next to the dog food so I'd never seen that section.
Another thing I need to do is shop for a new mattress. I've been thinking that might be better on a Saturday afternoon because we might be left alone to try things out for a sufficient amount of time without someone nattering at us.
I was really dismayed when I was going to donate our dead bikes that the website says they're only open M-F 10-6.... when I showed up though, there was someone right there at the door who not only was happy to get the bikes she sent someone out to help me get them from the car.
However going through the McDonalds drive through afterward was less appealing. Better than going into the restaurant in that neighborhood though. [I'll probably be turning comments off on this post now too. Because I'm for sure someone will be all judgmental about my having gone to McDonalds.] I really enjoyed my frozen beverage after all that lifting.
