Hi, hi. hi. hi. !
Sep. 24th, 2009 09:34 pmI've been looking for something to replace the Friday Five that I remember from years ago. There are similar things but the people generating the questions are clearly either infantile or imbecilic. The idea is to have common questions that everyone can answer and that will spark discussion among readers, right?
Why would I answer something asking what the most recent books I've read are? I usually post about that. If there's a book I haven't listed, that's usually because I don't want to admit to it for some reason.
---
I went out tonight.
I also went out this afternoon.
I am so proud of myself.
But I also feel a bit weird. When I walked in the door I was so relieved as to be lightheaded. Though that might have been from the real-chocolate-made mocha I had because I'm definitely over-caffeinated and that probably means I've had too much sugar since the mocha was deathly sweet.
----
The season premier of NCIS was actually quite good. I am rather pleased with the resolution of the cliffhanger. I am disappointed it is not available on Netflix download like it was last year.
Tonight we watched the Bones, but we're planning to watch FlashForward from Hulu at some point. I've corresponded with Robert Sawyer and feel some obligation to at least attempt viewing of a science fiction series based on his work.
In that regard, I also recorded the first Eastwick because it has Paul Gross in it. My SO said I had to watch it and vouch for it before he would bother.
Also I am laughing that Lipstick Jungle was canceled. Paul Blackthorn, who was Harry Dresden and threw them over to star in a useless smut thing deserved to lose that job. The Dresden Files would not have been canceled if they could have gotten him to continue. Of course the Dresden people were a bunch of fuckups anyway with making sure they borked enough details from the books so they could have their magic human rainbow... which caused the pilot ep which explained what the hell was going on to be the second to last episode ever aired. And anyone who produces 8 episodes without optioning the actors is an idiot. So it's not entirely Blackthorn's fault, but since his leaving destroyed a show I was thoroughly enjoying and he left to join a show I would never ever watch, I can't help but be glad that was canceled. It feels fair in a way that most things are not.
---
I think I'm going to lock the door and go read for a while. Still working on that Dragon book. Would like it a lot more if it wasn't using naming conventions straight from Russian lit. It gives the book this depressing overtone I suspect the author is wholly unintending.
