Longmire and Sky Dragons
Aug. 27th, 2012 09:28 amI've discovered a new mystery show that I am enjoying, Longmire. Of course I discovered it the night of the season finale.
I read the last Anne McCaffrey book, Sky Dragons. I'm honestly appalled that I liked that series. So much squicky breeder crap. Plus it falls back on my least favorite science fiction trope.... time travel makes things better but no one ever actually goes back to the root of the problem they just use it for plot devices. Seems like if you have a whole planet and a gestalt species and several subcultures developed, you wouldn't need time travel in every book in order to have a plot.

Date: 2012-08-28 02:45 am (UTC)I know I read them the first time around that same age as you. And I know I missed a lot of it. Because when I re-read them as an adult I realized what Lessa and F'lar only having one child that Lessa mostly ignored actually meant... it was less than consenting on her part. And yet it was presented as "well at least forced sex caused by bonded dragons mating got her one child, think how sad it would be if she didn't have a baby of her own!"
In this one lesbians had m/f sex just to make babies. Like 5 lesbians ALL did this. It boggled my little mind.
Menolly was the fire lizard harper? Yeah, she deserved a LOT better than that.
